Golden Circle from Reykjavik: The 15 Best Tours

56 reviewed

Thingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss on a single loop is what most first trips give a day to, and the tours diverge much further than the route itself. Below: which run small minibuses rather than full coaches, which bolt on Kerid crater, the Fridheimar tomato greenhouse or a soak at the Secret Lagoon, current fares, and which one survives a tight schedule.

“Wow! Just wow! A brilliant trip from start to finish. Wrap up warm whilst waiting for the bus to arrive, it was so cold. Our guide Ava was full of knowledge with a brilliant sense of humour. Snook in a couple of extra stops too. Particularly enjoyed Gulfoss & the lagoon. *Tip - buy a waterproof pouch for your phone before you go so you can take photos & videos in the water. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend. 🥰”

“The Coach and Tour Comoany Jewel didn't show up to collect us at our hotel at 0930. They said they couldnt find the hotel. Contacted Viator who offered a 1200noon with the same company. We agreed to then be told it was full and not available. And book an alternative date. Unfortunately we were on our last day, which put a downer on our holiday. Viator made excuses for the Tour company which fell on deaf ears as thats what I do for a living in Ireland. Disgraceful treatment.”

“Pick up service was very punctual and friendly before transferring onto a larger coach. Our guide, Mr K and driver, Augustine were excellent. Mr K was very informative, giving us all a brief explanation about Icelandic history and the meaning of each stop off point. The views were AMAZING! Our favourite stop off was the giant waterfall, which was breathtaking. Plenty of facilities to purchase food, drinks and souvenirs along the way plus plenty of toilets when needed. Mr K informed us that Iceland was experiencing a rather unusual heatwave, temperatures sat around 6 degrees so, although there was no snow it made the journeys between each stop off a…”

“This is a long day but plenty of comfort breaks. It really shows you what Iceland is about. I’ve done this before but this was a fabulous return trip for me, I’d brought with me 3 Iceland novices and I thought I’d sleep through most of it but it was so completely different. One big difference was the guide Nick who was actually from Elgin, Scotland. His knowledge was amazing and he told us about his journey to live in Iceland. Fascinating .”

The sites were all beautifully maintained with great facilities at each stop. Prices for food and drink are high, but that is across the country. We were blessed with a sunny day so everything was just beautiful , the secret lagoon was a wonderful ending to the day! Thank you!”
